Fluoride is a mineral that is naturally found in water and many foods. Fluoride therapies can help remineralize enamel that has been weakened, decrease sensitivity, protect exposed tooth root surfaces, and are helpful for patients who are at high risk for developing cavities/decay. Fluoride can be painted on your teeth in the form of a varnish at your regular dental cleanings. For patients who are at high risk for developing cavities or have a dry mouth, our team may recommend a prescription strength fluoride toothpaste for use at home.
